AN HONEST REVIEW FROM A MAN WHO BOUGHT THIS BOOK

I AM A MAN who bought this book as a gift for a female friend who does not have an Amazon account. I read the book because the title caught my eye and because I wanted to determine if the author was on target in terms of defining men, etc. Overall, I think it's a good read, funny, and to the point. I didn't agree with everything because I think the book could have shined a better light on men, but I will agree with one statement that stuck out for me on page 129 under the heading MEN LIE ABOUT LOVE. It's true that men sometimes lie about love. If we tell you that we love you and we act otherwise, then we are probably lying. Have I done this in the past? Not me because I have only loved one woman and I told her that. She knows it. But we men (depending on how full of shit we are) will lie to get some pussy. My advice to all women is that if we act contrary to what we say, something is probably up and we have something (perhaps other girls) on our minds. If we are with you and we get lots of texts during our time together, then something might be up. We don't always think with our hearts, which is why men are said to be from Mars and women are from Venus. This is just my little input.

Also, since a lot of women will probably be reading this review I want to tell as many women as possible something important. Please, please, please tell us men what you want. Don't expect us to guess what you want in life and in bed. Tell us what you want. The dilemma for centuries between men and women is that women don't tell us what they want. My girlfriend is the same way and all the women before that. If you want to have sex, then tell us. If you want to go to a certain place, then tell us. If you want us to rock your world, then tell us. As I speak among my male friends their biggest problem with women is that they don't tell us what they want clearly enough and as often enough. If you want to be happy with us, then give us a few hints and tell us exactly what is on your mind. It really frustrates us to keep wondering and guessing.

Ok, well this is my review. I am going to give this book to my friend and hope she gets a bang out of it.

At the top of my list!!

So far I have read a plethora of relationship books and this one is at the top of my list. It's a quick read about 225 pages, all you need is the first four chapters! This book is raw! Kara King tells it like it is. If you are sensitive and have a low self esteem toughen up, get a therapist. She lets you know that lack of confidence in no way will attract a man. If you want to know what attracts and deters men from your path, this is the book for you. For those who have read only a few pages of this book and believe Kara King is a man basher, you didn't read far enough into the book. I highly suggest chapter 6 in which the author tells us ladies that we tend to over look the good guys for shallow reasons. I have to say she's right, both sexes are guilty of choosing a partner with looks over brains.

I do however suggest that you read more than just one book to empower yourself. Broadening your knowledge and communication skills is what will lead you to finding the right man. As of now I have many dates lined up and i'm very much pursued by the opposite sex. I owe it all to developing self confidence and researching. The following books should be read as well: Act Like A Lady Think Like A Man by Steve Harvey, Why Men Love Bitches by Sherry Argov. If you feel you need to work on your communication skills with the opposite sex you must read Men are from Mars Women are from Venus by John Gray. Not only will your communication skills improve you will gain insight as to why men act the way they do. What makes them tick and most of all how to complement a man with positive affirmations, this builds your confidence and his! He's happy your happy, there will be less nagging involved and more peace, I promise! I also feel in todays technologically advanced society females are easily available, when access should be limited to the opposite sex. Learn how to handle yourself via text messaging, e-mailing, and of course social networking sites such as Facebook. A great book that covers these topics would be Not Your Mothers Rules By Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider. And finally if you feel you have been duped, played, etc you need to look for red flags and this advice goes to both men and women. There are people out there who are quite successful at playing others and you need to be capable of detecting such types. They get away with it because their experts and have been for quite some time. I recommend The Art of Seduction by Robert Greene. Not everyone is out to get you but be aware of those who carry these unique personality traits. Detecting BS is half the battle. As knowledgeable as I am now I use my wisdom to the best of my abilities and I do not lead others on. Once you acquire the needed confidence do not forget to treat others the way you would like to be treated. If someone no longer interest you, make sure you state it kindly. Good luck to all of you!

100% Insight into the player mindset!

Don't let the title put you of. Concise and utterly accurate, Kara King calls it like she sees it.

Every woman who is dating, from teenager upwards, deserves to know about the 'player' men she writes about. Some players are harmless & easy to pick out that they are just after sex. Others are more insidious & predatory - they seduce, mislead by suggestion, lie outright, deceive, manipulate and use women. Learn the difference between PERSONALITY & CHARACTER. Pay attention to any feeling that things do not add up. Beware the 'perfect' guy and the 'perfect' relationship that unfolds too easily. Beware the guy who plies you with alcohol. Although there is no guarantee you will be told the truth, establish the rules upfront; ask what you are; what this is. Then see if ACTION matches his WORDS. A guy who is genuinely interested in a relationship willing puts in effort to build something healthy eg will listen & try to solve problems, respects you/proud to be with you, your opinion and is open and transparent. A player is unlikely to invest effort in a woman, to him she is just a docking station and if he is seeing other women then a schedule (certain days of the week) or secrecy is likely part of the equation. Run if referred to as a 'special friend', haven't been introduced to his circle or if when confronted with professions/promises made he claims he can't recall/didn't say that/you misunderstood.

Best be prepared... Figure out the game, avoid being used. Read the book and apply the principles; she has nailed down the player mindset 100%! A real gift to women everywhere, if you are single and dating, don't venture out there without reading this book first!!

As an added extra, men "checkout" (emotionally or physically) when their interest wanes - accept that HE IS NEVER GOING TO TELL YOU!! Be brave, don't settle for excuses - work etc, blah, blah. Just move on, you deserve better.

"Oh calamity" the book of the summer

The Hypnotist's Love Story was good, the Husband's Secret was better, but Big Little Lies is the best. I was captivated from the first page, as I waited to figure out the mystery as to what was going to happen to these amazing characters on Trivia Night. The book is told by multiple voices, particularly Madeline, Celeste and Jane, each one had a distinct voice and a point of view that felt familiar, yet in this author's competent hands totally unique.

Madeline Martha Mackenzie is a 40 year old throw-back to the screw ball comedies. She has the mouth, the wardrobe and her heart is in the right place when not suffering from her monthly PMS. She lives in the same town with her ex-husband, Nathan and his yoga chanting, euphorically perfect second wife, Bonnie. Nathan left Madeline and their newborn infant 14 years ago, and while Madeline has re-married a wonderful man and has two children with him, it still hurts that their 14 year old daughter now wants to live with her ex and his wife.

It would seem that Celeste has it all. She is a beautiful woman, married to a very wealthy man, Perry, and has two adorable twin boys attending Pirriwee Public School. What looks to be a perfect relationship to others, can become toxic when the couple is behind closed doors. This is a fact that is finally becoming glaringly clear, even to Celeste.

Jane is a single mother raising her five year old boy, Ziggy, with the help of her mother and father, who live near by. She has just moved to the Pirriwee Peninsula, after taking leases in different apartments across Sydney, hoping to finally find a "life that worked". Once an outgoing career oriented 19 year old, she bears the scars of a disastrous sexual encounter.

As serendipitously as it was meant to happen, on her way to kindergarten orientation, Jane stops to help a slightly injured Madeline after a fender bender. Having their children in the same kindergarten class is the impetus that brings Celeste, Madeline and Jane together. While all three woman are experiencing troubles, some certainly more serious than the others, they are drawn together and stick together. Jane has a real support system from her new friends, when Ziggy is accused of bullying a female kindergarten classmate of a high powered attorney. When a petition is circulated to try and have Ziggy suspended from the school, it divides the parents of Pirriwee Public school into two factions.

This is chick literature with a sting, that is both funny, intelligent and ultimately moving. There is simply so much to recommended about this book, written by an author who has proven herself incapable of creating a one dimensional character or a boring plot. The characterizations are perfect, the Australian setting idyllic, the pacing perfect as there is not one unnecessary page, the character's interconnections realistic and touching.. The story is full of clever dialogue and laugh out loud moments, while never losing sight that the subject matter is at times complex. I have to admit I did not like the ending of The Husband's Wife, this time all the subplots converge at the right time and place, giving the narration a most satisfying ending. Big Little Lies is filled with sharp observations about domestic abuse, bullying, second marriages, self-esteem, parenting, friendship and second chances. "Oh calamity" what an enjoyable book. Very Highly Recommended.

Liane Moriarty's latest work of seriocomic fiction, "Big Little Lies," focuses on the conflicts, secrets, and betrayals that poison relationships between husbands and wives, parents and children, and friends and neighbors. The novel is set in Australia and centers around a tragedy that occurred during a trivia night in the local elementary school. The suspense arises from the fact that, at first, we do not know exactly what happened. Via flashbacks, witness statements, and inflammatory bits of gossip, a picture emerges of a town divided into haves and have-nots.

The author cleverly satirizes working mothers who boast about their ability to juggle their careers and home lives, and also pokes fun at affluent moms who lord it over their "inferiors." There are several standouts among the large cast: Forty-year old Madeline Mackenzie is good-hearted and outspoken when she perceives any sort of injustice. Two other women tug at our heartstrings: Twenty-four year old Jane Chapman is a single mum, whose five-year-old boy, Ziggy, is accused of bullying. The gorgeous Celeste White is married to a rich and handsome man, but her chums do not realize that her personal life is far from idyllic.

As Moriarty digs beneath the surface of each individual's fa�ade, she demonstrates that what appear to be harmless lies can inflict a great deal of damage, especially when the falsehoods conceal ugly truths. So much grief might be avoided if people would be more honest with themselves and others. Along with her exploration of timely themes, Moriarty entertains us with sparkling dialogue, sharp humor, and a gripping mystery. "Big Little Lies" is a page-turner that will undoubtedly attract a large and appreciative audience.

Engrossing, Smart, & Topical Mystery

At first, Big Little Lies gently engages the reader's interest only to suddenly evolve into a captivating story, holding the reader's attention until the end.

Pirriwee Public is, in many ways, its own little world. The children are well cared for, their academic progress and creativity encouraged to flourish. The parents are mostly middle class, albeit across the income spectrum, and highly engaged in their children's lives--in fact, sometimes too engaged, hovering over their children and becoming involved in every perceived slight or risk.

A young single mom, Jane, moves to town, enrolling her young son at Pirriwee Public,and gets off to a bad start when one of the influential mothers mistakes Jane for a nanny. Which parent, and how the tragedy occurs, isn't clear until a stunning development at nearly the end of the book.

Having read The Husband's Secret, I was eager to read Big Little Lies. Although I enjoyed The Husband's Secret, I didn't think it lived up to all of its stellar reviews. Big Little Lies, however, is a better book that will have wide appeal not only to fans of Liane Moriarty, but readers of women's fiction, mysteries, and almost anyone that wants to lose themselves in a engrossing story for an afternoon.

I am Chinese and this book complements Chinese Qi-gong practice and plus

I am from Hong Kong and I have studied Taoist Qi-gong for 4 years. One day I come across this book and I am just stunned.

The (two-volume) books are so packed with information that it seems to me like an "index". I am reading the book slowly. The Merkaba energy flow within the body described in the book are very similar to what we do in the Chinese Qi-Gong. For example,

1. One important Qi energy path is the heat / light energy going anti-clockwise upward spiral form along the spine, while another path is clockwise downward spiral moving downward along the spine.

2. Mr Melchizedek says Qi is dragged from nature, while Merkaba is from 4th dimension and he is correct. This is also true. In our practice we drag Qi from nature, sky, earth or trees, etc. We do not drag "4th dimension energy". Afterall we don't have a pyramid in Hong Kong.

3. Multiple Qi paths are running simultaneously in our body or what we called meridians. We have "water" imaginary energy path going UPWARD and "fire" energy path going DOWNWARD simultaneously (straight line) in the middle meridian (not spine). Before reading the book, I was always wondering why energy moving upward is far easier than moving downward--Because I am also a "left-brainer".

However the prana and breathing techniques are different. My understanding is that western way and Chinese way we are learning 2 different approaches to the same goal.

The flower of life geometry and origin of human story is completely new to me, but is fully complement to the Chinese Yin-Yang (i.e. "2") and then One (i.e. Tao or "1") then Zero "0" or void. This is simply amazing.

I was aware of a lot of things in these books but having the information condensed to one place is great. I had done research on Mr Melchizedek and I am very glad I decided to finally purchase and read both volumes of The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life. If your perspective on life doesn't change after reading these books then you may never wake up. I use the meditation practices in Volume 2 daily, I'm getting better every day. A must read for anyone trying to wake up and improve themselves and their spirit for the better. Please do yourself the favor and buy both volumes at the same time.

If your going to read this just know

This book leads to more questions but sets the reader on the right direction. I would recommend reading this when you don't have a lot of things going on currently in your life I would say the Tao of physics or science books should be read before this esoteric knowledge. Possibly an in depth journey through Egyptian life would be good before reading this as well. Knowledge on dmt helps make this book easier to believe, it has some far out concepts and may not be suited for very logical or practical people, people that intend on reading this book need to have a big immigration and try not to judge the material mentally

Smolarz argues for continuity between OT and NT concepts and theologies in general, and for continuity between the Apocalypse and OT material in particular, showing that the Apocalypse has much in common with other parts of the NT. In doing so, he focuses on some Gospel parables and reads them against their OT background. He also examines instances of the divine marriage metaphor in Paul's theological reflections. The focus of Smolarz' volume is a covenantal reading of the Apocalypse. He argues that the metaphor helps to establish the Apocalypse's Sitz im Leben, which he relates to the main conflict between the faithful and the unfaithful within the people of God in the first century CE. His work establishes that the Apocalypse contains not only explicit instances, but also implicit references and many echoes of this covenantal metaphor.

Excellent scholarly resource

This is an excellent, well-argued, important work on Revelation. Smolarz works from an early-date perspective and sees the Babylonian harlot as a metaphor for apostate Jerusalem prior to AD 70. He traces the divine marriage theme throughout Scripture, finally getting to Revelation in his last chapter.

Insightful and Important Book!

I may be charged with bias, since I have written a book on "We Shall Meet Him In The Air, the Wedding of the King of kings," in which I explore the marvelous metaphor of the Wedding motif in scripture, but, even granting my personal bias for this subject matter, this is a great book! Smolarz shares with us some excellent research and his linguistic studies so often shed light on many texts in which we might not be attuned to the marriage metaphor. His insights into the book of Revelation and the significance of the marriage metaphor there, as relating to the divorcement of "Israel" is fantastic, not to mention challenging for the modern view of Revelation. I have shared this book with several others, and they now share my appreciation for it. You need this book!

The new 9th edition has been revised and updated to reflect the changes for the AP Computer Science Examination starting with May 2015. As usual, the book is divided into two sections. The first section has 17 focus chapters. Each chapter briefly summarizes the concepts, provides information about common pitfalls, and is followed by 12 review questions. The second section has 3 sample exams, each simulating the actual AP Computer Science Examination, with 40 multiple-choice and 4 free-response questions in each sample exam. The 9th edition has a strong focus on the important area of Object Oriented Programming, which has 4 separate chapters of review with a total of 48 questions. The review concludes with a set of tricky questions, also known as snooker questions. A snooker question is a question that a student with good knowledge of a topic, nevertheless gets wrong. Therefore, we have devoted a large chapter for snooker questions. This new chapter covers 15 major topic areas that are tested on the AP Exam and provides two questions for each topic, to assist students with subtle trickiness in questions.

Hard to get Study Material. Invaluable study for the AP Test

An excellent book to prepare for the AP Test. Hard to get. If you buy this book you most certainly want to buy the Solutions Manual along with it.

Each chapter has about 12 AP like study questions (multiple choice) to test your understanding. Chapter 20, 21, 22 are three practice AP tests.
