About the Author
Henry (Harry) Allan Ironside was born in Canada in 1876. Converted at the age of fourteen, he lived to preach and did so throughout North America and the British Isles. For Eighteen Years he was pastor of Chicago's Moody Memorial Church. The author of over 100 books, his scholarship was recognized by many Bible Institutes and Seminaries. H.A. Ironside went on the be with the Lord in 1951. The clarity of his preaching led hundreds of thousands to a knowledge of the Word of God. His writings are as fresh and instructive today as when first published.

Ironsides is a terrific Bible teacher and brings his messages to life with his narrative and theological approach. I used this book for an adjunct to my teaching the book of Romans. This very powerful book lends itself to the deep insights that Ironsides brings to the table. I find it more of a resource for teaching rather than a book to just read casually. I also recommends any of Ironsides writing.

About the Author
WILLIAM P. RODDEN is a consulting aeronautical engineer widely known for his archive and industrial publications and teaching of all aspects of aeroelasticity. The contents of this book reflect a lifetime of experience in all theoretical and computational aspects of aeroelasticity. After graduation from the University of California, Berkeley, with a Master s Degree, Rodden began his career as a stress analyst and an aerodynamic stability and control analyst in the Southern California aerospace industry. He worked at Northrop and Douglas Aircraft companies on military aircraft and eventually received his Ph.D. on a Douglas scholarship from UCLA, specializing in matters of flutter. Subsequently, he taught at UCLA and the University of Southern California. In 1965, Dr. Rodden opened his consulting practice. He notes that his purpose was to be independent, not to become rich and we succeeded on both counts. As a consultant, he worked on such projects as the DC-10, F-20, F-23, and the B-2 stealth bomber. In addition, he earned his private pilot s license, testified as an expert witness in several trials on airframe in-flight problems, and continued his lifelong interests in sports. Dr. Rodden formally retired in 1999 to begin work on this book. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronuatics.

Tops the List

My first book review! Not because I don't read lots (I'm a bookaholic) and not because I don't love the books I read (I just turned my dining room into a small library) but because this book has really touched me at my core and I sincerely think it will do the same for many others. There is a connection between each extremely different life that runs through this book ; so obvious that it jumps out at you in a way that you can't miss; and can't help but be inspired by. It's why this book can change people now and generations to come. Come to find out Greatness isn't always glamorous and rarely easy. It requires passion, being true to ones self, doing what is right (o.k..some exceptions), and above all the confidence to follow your path - not someone else's. Dedication, commitment, focus, and the phrase "no matter what" frequently appear in these lives, voiced or not. Sounds difficult? Maybe even less than desirable? Read on! These were the most satisfied, fulfilled, inspired, passionate people imaginable. Feel like life is less than it was supposed to be? This book may hold the key for you...it honestly did for me. Good poker guide

At first I didn't really think that I will ever master poker, but when I started reading this book, I began to understand the basic of the game. This book is pretty detail with explanation about how the game works, betting, things to avoid while betting, and how Texas Hold'em works.

I know now that playing poker is not at all about luck, it also involves skill in playing technique. While poker is seen as based on luck, it actually can be played smartly if you maintain a certain discipline and play only with certain cards on the long run, you will have a more successful win rate. It's a good read.

This is a fantastic guide to exactly how to turn poker from an interesting game into a way to really make a living. Ryan clearly has plenty of experience with poker and is laying it all out on the table so to speak.

He starts his book by giving a refresher on the rules of poker and where it came from. If you are going to win at it, it only makes sense that you should know the rules backwards and forwards.

Next Ryan effectively hits many actions you should avoid when playing the game. I wasn't aware of half of these. This is serious educational material!

Finally, he goes through my favorite and your favorite game of Texas Hold'em and the ability to read the cards and read the other players. This is where the rubber meets the road and Ryan is the driver.

This was a great read and helps me better understand why in the past I never played the game well. Though, with these new strategies and tips I am ready to hit the table again and go all in!

About the Author
Havoc Pennington started programming with GTK+ before version 1.0 was released and became an active Gnome developer a few months after the project began. He is the author of several components of the Gnome libraries and some small Gnome utilities. His current free software projects include a data analysis program called Guppi and a Gnome front-end to the Debian GNU/Linux package management tool. Havoc is also the author of a free tutorial for new Debian users and is a frequent contributor to the GTK and Gnome mailing lists. He is currently employed by EMC Capital Management, Inc., writing Gnome software for internal use.

A how stuff works guide for GTK+

This book is out-dated, and probably wouldn't make a good tutorial for a beginner. On the other hand, this is the only source of information I have found which explains GTK+ on a lower level. If you already know how to use GTK+ and want more information on how things like GObject or GDK work, this could be the book for you.

A bit of a disappointment.

I suppose this is another example of why the people who actually write a piece of software shouldn't handle its documentation. This is a somewhat haphazard reference to GTK+; it doesn't have nearly enough information to act as a tutorial, even to an experienced C programmer, and yet it's not complete enough to act as a reference guide either. Like most hacker's documentation, this is far from clear and complete; it seems geared towards people who are willing to fill in the blanks in the text themselves through reading source code or online docs. Of course, if you need to do that, why bother purchasing the book in the first place? Just read the online docs. I wish I could suggest this book, as it is an "open source" manual, but there's better material out there.
