Excellent illustrations

Animal Restraint for Veterinary Professionals is a great book for veterinary assistants just starting out. It is also an excellent reference for all personnel in the animal field because sometimes basic knowledge is forgotten. This book has great illustrations and explainations of exactly how to safely hold every type of animal.

great reference resource

Probably my favorite thing about this book (after the excellent photo illustrations) is the chapter on tying knots. Even after spending 3 years as a Cub Scout Den Leader, I had trouble with a few knots. The photos and directions made it all simple. I also like the fact that both large and small animals, including exotics, are in one resource. I can pretty much restrain any dog and most cats, but hadn't a clue about some of the larger ones until this book.

This should be a required text for any Vet Tech program

This book is excellent! It describes in detail exactly how to restrain animals (small, large & exotics) step-by-step as well as provide high quality photos of the steps described. The photos become invaluable when first learning restraint techniques (where to put what hand on what part of the animal). Restraining can be an all-out struggle with animals. There is a high potential for injury of staff/students/Veterinarian while restraining. This text reviews the dangers & safety measures for staff/student to keep in mind. As a nice side note, the text is made of high quality glossy paper. Vet Tech program instructors please require this text for your students! You will find it makes your job so much more easier & less stressful for the student.
